A Plethora of Knitters

This week at knitting we were treated to quite a surprise! Not only was most of the group there for the first time in weeks, but there were also a few new members as well as a small gaggle of knitters who belong to the Arborland Borders knitting group! It was loud, fun, & exciting (as you can see from all the exclamation points)! ;) I took several pics, but alas these are the only ones that weren't too horendous to post.. not even photoshop could help those puppies! friggin camera.. grrrr

And I actually got a fair amount done on my tank, see...

In other news, Lynne hosted our first ever monthly spinning group. It was just three of us & was very nice. Lynne even made me a pair of lurvley stitch markers, but my friggin camera doesn't seem to be able to take a pic of them that isn't insanely fuzzy! (deep breathes...find your happy place)

Have quite a busy weekend ahead.. we are driving to Chicago tomorrow to have our anniversary dinner (9yrs as of wednesday) at the Russian Tea Room & see a concert. We are driving back Saturday morning & have plans for dinner on Saturday night. We also have something we have to do on Sunday but I can't remember what the heck it is right now. At least I will get plenty of knitting done during the drive. :)

Purple Beans! (SQUEE!)

I knew all this friggin rain would yeild somethin good!

This is a scarf I am making out of Classic Elite's Premiere in #5226 Tidal Wave. I know I said I didn't want to make a scarf out if it, but I saw this trellis lace stitch in my stitch book & just knew it would be perfect.

Hey, maybe I'll even finish this one!

What I've been up to

So I have been a little neglectful of my blog. Granted, it was mostly because my internet connection kept crapping out, but still...
Just so you know I haven't been laying on the couch doing nothing, here are a few pics.

I have gotten quite a bit done on the shawl as well, but didn't get a good pic of it yet. The daffodil & pumpkin yarns are knitting up very nicely together. My only concern is that they are not colors I would normal wear, but I will mostly be wearing this at home so it should be ok.

The knit pic is the beginning of the Boudouir Slippers from Erika Knights Simple knits with a twist. She used satin ribbon, but I figured the O2 would work just as well and be a little more comfy to wear. I should probably go up a couple of sizes on the needle though as it is a little stiff on the 10s.

Oh, and I'm up to chapter 20 on HP6. Whee! :p

Spinner's Flock

Lynne let me tag along today to the monthly Spinner's Flock meeting. Great fun! I have been wanting to go for about, um 5? 6? years... yep, I'm a big wussie!

Anywho, there were LOTS of people there



I got to meet Fabulous Knitty Designer Jillian Moreno. She designed such lovelies as Bella, Boo, & the BOOBIE SCARF! She told me that Knitty was going to start printing some spinning stuff AND she offered to teach me continental knitting! (squee!)


I found a Lendrum dealer in Michigan & Lynne got to try one out...

So, big question. Am I joining? Don't know yet. It's such a large guild that I felt a little overwhelmed. If I had come alone I probably would have skedadled after a few minutes. Also, once the "business" part of the meeting started I quickly lost interest. I just wish there was a small spinning group in Ann Arbor.

But, on the plus side I met some simple wonderful women, got info on finally buying a lendrum & had a good time.

Come on baby finish what you started...

I seem to be in this weird phase. I can't seem to finish anything lately! I have been knitting, honestly!

I have the Cathay tank.. but I need to get bamboo or birch needles to work with cause it is just too slippery on the aluminum. I have another Princess tank.. but I'm kinda bored with it. And I have started, ripped out & restarted a sock about 50 billion times in the past 2 weeks. sigh.

In attempt to get over this hump I started a shawl the other day & it seems to be coming along nicely, although I did have to tink back a few rows last night due to miscalculation.

progress so far

I really like the pattern so far. Its very versatile in that it can be made with any weight yarn in just about any width & length. The pattern alternates between garter & seed stitch w/picot edging. I really like the combo of daffodil & pumpkin in the skeins, can't wait to see what it looks like knit up together. These aren't colors I would normally use.. much more drawn to blues, greens, & purples. Hopefully the excitement will sustain me through this big wooly project during the heat of summer... and I won't be seduced by some other bit of fluff before I finish. ;)
